Your coins don't wait on paperwork.
Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, OKX and Bybit all want an account and your ID, and every one of them can restrict or hold what you keep there. SpanSwap has no account, asks for no ID, and moves your deposit straight on to you, or back to you.
Seven steps and two waits, or three steps
Moving coins from one network to another through a big exchange means an account, ID, approval, a deposit that may be held, a trade and a withdrawal. With SpanSwap it is one order.

Who can lock your coins, and how
Not stories from review sites: what the exchanges' own terms say they may do.
SpanSwap: nothing to lock
No account and no balance kept with us. Each order gets its own deposit address, and our terms say funds are moved on automatically: to you once bridged, or back to your refund address if the route cannot complete. We do not ask who you are, at any point.
Freeze, hold, suspend
OKX's terms let it freeze or lock any assets in your account. Bybit's let it freeze or hold your funds and cancel a withdrawal without notice, and it does not have to tell you why. Kraken's let it suspend withdrawals altogether.
ID first, then holds
Binance makes every new user verify before depositing or trading; older accounts that never did can only withdraw. Coinbase can hold a cash deposit, and crypto bought with it cannot be sent until the hold ends. Kraken lists holds of up to 7 days after some deposits.
One order across 20 networks
On an exchange, moving coins between networks is a deposit, a trade and a withdrawal, inside an account that can be held. Here it is one order: send on one network, receive on another, choosing from 86 tokens, with nothing to open first.
What each exchange says it may do
Paraphrased, with the clause number where there is one, so you can read the original.
Binance
Help centre: identity verificationAll new users must complete identity verification before they can deposit or trade.
Older accounts that never verified are limited to withdrawing, closing positions and cancelling orders.
Coinbase
Help centre: ID verification; available balanceAsks for identity verification when you open an account, and again from time to time; until then features are restricted.
Cash deposits may be held. Crypto bought with held cash cannot be sent until the hold ends, holds can be extended, and support cannot shorten them.
Kraken
Global terms of service; help centreStandard verification asks for a valid ID and a face photo or proof of address.
May suspend your ability to withdraw altogether to meet legal obligations, and reject or limit any withdrawal (section 3).
May suspend, restrict or end your access without notice (section 15), and need not tell you what its checks found (section 1).
Its help centre lists withdrawal holds of 72 hours after US-dollar card purchases and 7 days after some US bank deposits, which support cannot lift early.
OKX
Terms of service (OKX US, 17 Sept 2026)Asks for government photo ID and proof of address (clause 7.1).
May freeze or lock any assets in your account (7.6), and suspend, freeze or seize an account during an investigation (7.7).
May suspend withdrawals, and refuse ones it believes the law prevents (4.1).
Bybit
General terms (UAE platform, 23 Jan 2026)Has required identity verification for every product since 8 May 2023; unverified users could only close positions and withdraw.
May freeze, hold or restrict access to your funds, and cancel or limit any withdrawal, without notice (clause 12.1).
Withdrawals may be delayed for anti-money-laundering checks (14.3), and it does not have to explain why it acted (28.4).
SpanSwap
Our privacy page and termsWe do not collect names, ID documents or any other identity information, and we do not ask for any.
Your deposit is held only between arriving and being bridged or refunded, and is moved on automatically (terms, section 2).
The small print, ours: when an order waits for a person
It happens, rarely, and never to ask who you are. We stop rather than guess when the price has moved too far before we bridge (more than 1 % below the quote), or when a bridge's result cannot be confirmed, because the coins may already be on their way. A person then sends them on or back. Keep your order link and get in touch if an order stays that way.
